Malware and Viruses and Worms (Oh, my!)
Let's face it, computing is sometimes a contact sport. In a networked environment like ours, it is also a team sport. One compromised workstation can quickly wreak havoc with its neighbors.
Download that latest "must-have" screen saver from the wrong site and suddenly you have unwelcome company (also known as a "trojan horse"). Open that unexpected email attachment and without your consent (or knowledge) your workstation starts sending out emails to tens of thousands of your "closest friends" and making secret calls to your colleagues' workstations while you work.
We work very hard to provide technical means to make ours as secure an environment as is possible. We also make our security measures as "invisible" ("transparent" to use the jargon of the trade) as possible. But from time to time it is important to remind ourselves that there are measures each one of us need to follow to maintain that security.
