* LOEX hosting
Melinda, Lee Ann, Sara, and Amy have been looking into the possibility of hosting LOEX 2011/2012 in Nashville. They have support from Sue, Flo, and Connie. They are hoping to hear from anyone interested in being part of the lead team to organize the work of planning the conference. LOEX will handle conference and hotel registration, but local assistance is needed in selecting hotels, suggesting speakers and finding sponsors. Melinda will contact a couple of people in the libraries who have substantial event planning experience. The deadline for the brief proposal is March 13th. Since Heard Library staff are involved in co-hosting the Music Library Association meeting in 2013 with Belmont and MTSU, we hope to dovetail efforts for local arrangements.
* Ask Us (QuestionPoint) and spam
The group reviewed an option Dale drafted using the "captcha" script, and also the numeric security feature on the TVNews website. The group was in support of implementing such a feature, and preferred the TVNews option for its readability. Melinda will investigate further to find out if this feature is working well. Jodie indicating that it would require some programming to make it work with the php forms. Sara will request that the "captcha" option be used for the room scheduling form for Music so that we can compare the effectiveness of these two solutions. We'll check back in May.
* Marketing public services
Sue asked for suggestions of services or resources to market this month in Library News Online and in the Heard Library website ticker. Featured databases for Black History Month (Feb.) and Women's History Month (March) were suggested. Sue will contact bibliographers for input.
* Instruction/Information Literacy staffweb
The committee agreed that a project team should be formed to determine the best tools for this and to begin the implementation. Sue will draft a project team description and will send it to the committee for review.
* DiscoverLibrary Project Group recommendations approved
RSC approved the DLPG's proposed changes to DiscoverLibrary, including:
Adding back the scores option in the advanced search
Change Name to VUnetID on the login page (RSC recommends adding a space between VUnet and ID, if possible)
Move forward with adding GMA to production after reindexing test one more time.
