Proposed changes for DiscoverLibrary - (all, see below for a reminder about the input requested previously) RSC members were indifferent to the question about the geographic facet order Members expressed some concern about adding more resources to the default search

Database licensing information – (Julie) Julie asked what inforamtion Public Services staff would want to see in Verde for licensing information, such as available for ILL, proxy access, perpetual access, course pack (electronic & print), reserve, e-reserve, print reserve); desired additions were number of simultaneous users and who are legitimate users (e.g. Owen only)

Computers in Libraries webpage – Chris/Jodie) See http://lib11.library.vanderbilt.edu/computing Chris and Jodie would like feedback. Some person in each library will need to be responsible for keeping the information up to date.

Graduate Funding LibGuide – 10 min (Melinda) Melinda showed a LibGuide in progress and asked for feedback.

Proposed changes for DiscoverLibrary: The DiscoverLibrary Production Group has put a few more changes into place on the test server for our review (see http://libdig7.library.vanderbilt.edu; you’ll need to click through to get the security certificate exemption—I think this is easier in IE). Please review the following and consult with your colleagues, as appropriate and be ready to comment at our next meeting (9/14). If you would like to send comments via email sooner, that will be appreciated.

1. A geographic facet has been added. (try “civil rights” as a search) Is this a useful addition? 2. The 028 field, currently labeled as “publisher no.” has been added to the full view. Is this the best label? 3. The 240 uniform title does not show in the brief record, but does in the full; brackets are not currently being used (as they have been for Acorn). Is this acceptable? (try shakespeare works bevington [first record in the results list].) 4. Additional terms have been added to the genre type facet (CD, DVD, LP) 5. The Collections Committee requested that the Serial Set be added. It is now included in the default search in test and can be selected from the drop down menu if searching only the serial set is desired (as with the other collections).
