* Online syllabi project
Cindy outlined the background and implementation of the online syllabi project that was originally initiated by students. An in-house system was created when a proposal to purchase BlackBoard software was not approved. The available syllabi can be searched by logging into OAK and clicking on the Courses tab; Caveats: undergrad courses only; faculty are voluntarily uploading these, so versions may not be the most current; not all syllabi are available
* URLs in cataloging records
Julie, Ann, and Zora reviewed the current process for cataloging e-books in Acorn. The process is under review by the E-book Project Team. Public services input was sought regarding whether to use separate or combined records for e-book and print versions. The strong preference in RSC is for consistency. Since all tape loaded records (e.g. NetLibrary) result in separate records, we prefer separate records for consistency. It was noted that DiscoverLibrary's merging of records may clear up some confusion in displaying the records.
Melinda reminded everyone that the library subscribes to Reference Universe, a "back of the book" index to reference titles. The linking to holdings and electronic versions is not currently working. Per Julie's recommendation, Melinda will send information to Mary Ellen.
