I spoke with Suellen about the Ask Us button not appearing on the homepage and together we decided that it should be reinstated in place of the current "Ask Us" text. This way, people who recognize the button will be able to find it. If it looks terrible, she'll change it back to the text. She said that the update team talked about creating a new button, but they didn't have time to do this with all the other updating. I agreed to take this question to the RSC: Would we like to see a new button?
I also said that I would raise the issue of the Tell Us link. In their usability testing, they discovered (as we already knew in reference) that users did not understand the difference between Tell Us and Ask Us. Now the Tell Us link appears as text under Quick Links. I would like for us to consider whether we need it at all, and whether the text "Tell Us" means anything to our users. Perhaps we should consider calling it something different, and if so, then what? Most of the email we get through this link is spam, and in the past couple of weeks the amount of spam has increased significantly.
