Meeting Notes
- Heard webpage ticker items are needed. Libraries are encouraged to suggest such items as they arise. While some are picked up from monthly reports, direct submissions are always welcome. Suggestions included the new Central Library exhibit in the lobby, the Divinity renovation (Bill's working on timetable and implications; there will go on the web), 'Did you know' sorts of items (offered as an example would be something about the fact that the Heard Library is not just Central), things we may want to remind people of periodically. Bill updated the group on what's happening with the SACS study team review process for reviewing QEP proposals.
- The addition of the solicitation statement to the Library's conduct policy was approved.
- Vacation benefits were discussed.
- Statistics on the number of items that have been delivered from one library to another for checkout by faculty was distributed. Music and Peabody account for 74% of the overall pick-up library designations; Central is the owning library for 64% of the requests.
- The service philosophy/principles/behaviors document was reviewed with its latest contributions. Flo will take the additional suggestions and try to come up with a final draft that LDC can submit for broader review. The document will then become a statement of our public service philosphy and intent. Bill suggested that we have a larger open conversation with staff once we have the document. Martin suggested that there may be committees that should take a look at the document as well.
- The Library (Melinda Brown, Sharon Weiner) and the Center for Teaching have submitted a proposal for the SACS accreditation Quality Enhancement Program on Information Literacy.
