Meeting Notes
Present: Walker, Haar, Carpenter, Murray, Cerjan, Primich (note-taker), Smith-Borne, Wilson, Hook
- Future calendaring and email changes
Jody reported that that the end of 2007, Corporate Time will no longer be supported, and it will be unavailable for use. ITS has Exchange servers in place, and is encouraging migration to Exchange. LITS will convene a group to consider both e-mail and calendaring options.
- Student Wages
Please submit plans for student wages to Lisa Shipman so that preparations for the Job Fair may be completed.
- LibStats program
Currently, Management uses the software. It is an open source package that allows tracking and reporting of reference queries. It is available for any library to use. Submit a request (to LITS/Dale) for activation. The group suggested a demonstration of the software.
- Annual Report
Please send reference and instruction statistics to Flo so that ARL reports may be completed (send by August 15). Please send a bulleted list of accomplishments to Celia for inclusion in the annual report (send by July 15).
- Digital Signage
An LCD monitor will be installed in Central. The monitor will display announcements, schedules, et al, related to the GLB facility. Other content pertaining to other libraries is welcome. Robin will be posting announcements.
- Fines
Discussion continued regarding discontinuing fines for overdue books (not recalled books). Some viewed fines as a means of protecting the collections, and that the elimination of fines would endanger the integrity of the collection. Bill Hook ran Acorn reports, which suggest that patrons do respond to fines and return items. Flo expressed the desire to have greater quantitative information that demonstrates the connection between fines and the motivation to return overdue items. This item will be further studied and is tabled until a later date.
- Director of System-wide public services
The position is open and candidates have applied.
