Agenda
- Faculty delivery implementation project
- Seating sweep plans
- Timing for dropping support of the C-client for Unicorn
LDC decided several months back that October 31st should be the cut-off date for the c-client. The Acorn group agrees that people should migrate to the new client but we would like to recommend that the c-client not be removed at this time. We have three outstanding issues that would cause workflow problems if access to the c-client were removed. The Acorn group would like to recommend that the LDC continues to encourage users to move to the Java client but that LITS will allow the C-client to remain on the workstation until these problems are resolved.
The three major problems that are still not resolved in the java client are--
- 1-Smartport: The smartport hitlist does not display enough information to determine the correct copy. We are working with SirsiDynix to get the needed additional fields (ie cataloging source) added.
- 2-Disappearing cursor: In some cases when staff are scanning multiple items the cursor will disappear.
- 3- Diacritics: When importing from smartport or connextion diacritics do not always work correctly.

Meeting Notes (with annotations for changes since the meeting)
- The faculty delivery implementation project team is ready to go. Members of the group are Jim Toplon (chair), new LA IV in ILL (hired Jim Webb), Eli Moody, Brent Tenpenny (changed to Laura Norris), Meredith Hammons (dropped off due to staffing changes in Divinity), Matt McKee, Michael Jackson. (Added later: Tracy Primich, Peg Earheart.)
- Flo talked about the seating sweep that the library will do to gather data about the physical use of library spaces. Sample days/hours will be identified, and each library (and possibly other related spaces) will be surveyed with library users being recorded in the spaces they are using--e.g., 6th floor study lounge behind the elevators at a table, 4th floor reference room in lounge seating, in the stacks on 5th level, study carrel on the second floor of Management, etc. Through this study, to be done this spring, we will gather a better sense of how all the library spaces are used. We discussed the possible collection of additional information and how that might be helpful to individual libraries. A group will be put together to work on the details; Julie Blagojevich will lead the group.
- Discussion proceeded on the implementation date for the java client. Since there are several outstanding problems, LITS was asking that the final implementation date be extended past the end of October. LITS and Sirsi are working on fixes. Discussion ensued about what was critical and what was not. Strong sentiment was expressed for moving forward in the near-term, and for establishing a new firm cutover date. LITS will be consulted for establishing a new date.

- Science and Engineering has determined that the accuracy of their holdings information for serials is questionable. Tracy suggested that library staff double check or have users double check before going to the Science and Engineering Library to confirm that needed volumes are there.
- The second phase of the Divinity Library renovation has been funded and approved. The work will be done over winter break. The first floor will receive attention.
- The Central Library lobby will be recarpeted over fall break.
