Meeting Notes
Present: Flo Wilson (Chair), Martin Cerjan, John Haar, Bill Hook, Juanita Murray, Tracy Primich, Holling Smith-Borne, Sharon Weiner (recorder)
Guests: Janice Adlington, Lisa Shipman
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Lisa reported on this year’s conflict of interest forms. All staff are required to submit the online form, which is due April 30. The form requires that we designate an “approver.” Lisa is the official approver for the libraries this year.
- End of year budget status
Lisa wants library directors to report the libraries’ end-of-year budget status to her by next Wednesday. We should let her know of any large purchases we plan to make before the end of the fiscal year.
- ERMS project team--update/status
Janice Adlington reported that she will meet individually with library directors about concerns they might have about ERMS implementation. She said the ERMS project team is evaluating two systems.
- S&E renovation
Tracy reported that five ranges of shelves will be removed from the Science and Engineering Library. The indexes and abstracts that were on those shelves have been relocated or withdrawn. The space that will be freed up will be used for more seating and computing, which is what undergraduates have requested. Other upgrades to the library are planned.
- Other announcements
Bill reported that Glenn now has a cell phone with voicemail to improve service and communication. There will soon be an “Inform-like” system to report copier and printer problems. Bill reminded us that we should notify him, Glenn, or Dewey if we report problems and they do not followed up in a timely manner.
John reported that the Central and Science Libraries materials budgets may be reduced by $300,000 next year. Therefore, those libraries will probably not be able to participate in new shared-cost subscriptions for electronic resources until further notice.
- Resolution of discussion on software training/workshops
Flo asked the library directors to consider whether a project team is needed to investigate software training for patrons.
