Meeting Notes (Regrets: Roberta, Beth)
1. Julie Loder presented the Verde Implementation Project Team charge to the group for approval. She discussed timelines for installation (set to begin next week on 11/10) and the need for the project team to meet with the implementation librarian for a training demo in the near future. Ex LIbris will provide general training for the Implementation Project Team sometime in December and specific training for other library staff will happen next year after procedures have been decided on by the team. The Council approved the proposal and project team members will be contacted.
2. There is currently no additional news to report on any possible changes to the budget. Members were asked to consider future budget exception requests so we can plan ahead as necessary to cover the programs we need to. In the meantime we will continue to operate on the standard budget model.
3. Connie arrives next week. Flo, Pat and Connie are still in the process of scheduling meetings and appointments for her. Although she does not plan to visit individual libraries during her November visit, she would like to sponsor a couple of informal library-wide meetings to socialize and meet with staff. Tentative dates for these open house meetings are November 11 at 2:00 pm and November 13 at 10:00 am. More information on these will follow once other appointments on her schedule are confirmed. Connie will also meet with the Communications Committee, the LibQUAL+ 2009 Project Team, deans, and others during this trip. Her next visit is tentatively set for December 4 through 8, and a third visit sometime in late January/early February.
4. Other Announcements:
- The LibQUAL+ Project Team will meet soon. Frances mentioned that Biomedical is considering doing a separate survey more specific to the needs of their library.
- The CAC has recommended continuing the Security Guard Trial through the spring semester.
- Faculty records in Acorn have been reviewed. Updating procedures have commenced, so that inactive faculty records will either be purged or expired. See CAC minutes from November, 2008 for details.
- At the close of the meeting, suggestions were taken for possible agenda items to discuss with Connie next week. Flo will provide these to Connie before the November 12 meeting.
