Minutes: (Regrets: Bill, Roberta, Frances)

1) The GX 280 series workstations are scheduled for replacement this year. There are approximately 85 public and individual workstations in the system. Public workstations will preferably change to a humpback unit, which sits behind the LCD screen. LITS also plans to update specs on these stations as well and tentatively plans to set the minimum at 2GB of RAM. George will provide directors with a spreadsheet identifying units scheduled for replacement before the project proceeds. Jody also discussed preparations currently underway for updating network operating systems and MS Office during the next fiscal year.

2) Celia presented the Staff Development Committee’s charge for 2008-2009. Changes include increasing the size of the committee and including liaisons with other committees, such as RSC, as appropriate. Suggestions were made for minor changes and additions; Celia will include those and send to the LC committee electronically for further review.

3) Juanita and Roberta proposed changing the name of the VU e-Archive to Discover Archive, in an effort to better identify the repository as a part of the library environment. The proposal will be sent to the Communications Committee for further discussion.

Other Announcements) The part-time Outreach Librarian position has merged into a joint full-time position reporting to both Science & Engineering and System-wide Public Services. The position announcement will be posted soon.
