1. Announcements:
- Budget update – Flo and Lisa received a memo from the Provost with preliminary guidelines for the remainder of the fiscal year. OUL staff will meet to discuss this new information and report back to Library Council members in the next few days about how to proceed.
- The retreat is scheduled for January 29 and will take place at the Main Public Library. The conference room is accessible at 9:00 am and we will begin the retreat by 9:15 as soon as we get set up; we will finish by 4:30 pm.
- The Outreach Librarian position has not been filled and the search has been put on hold until after Connie’s arrival.
- Three candidates will begin interviews next week for the Reference Librarian position in the Management Library.
2. Members of the Staff Development Committee presented the recently updated and improved Skills and Interests Survey. The new survey will be rolled out on 1/22 at an open house event in the GLB Electronic Classroom, alongside the Web Mgmt Group’s rollout of the new drupal staff web. Members were reminded that committee chairs are responsible for updating their committee member lists by contacting Ava.
3. Juanita updated the group on campus-wide communications regarding emergency situations. As a result of problems experienced during the recent power outage, changes will be made to campus-wide communications in future events: additional types of emergencies (such as power outages) will be added to the notifications list; circulation desks will also be called when an emergency is underway. Employees are encouraged to sign up for AlertVU automatic messages also. Internally, there is a need to revisit our library emergency plan. Juanita asked directors to send her their library’s correct telephone number for listing with VUPD and the news service.
4. Sue asked for input on choosing the local questions for the upcoming LibQUAL+ Survey. A list of questions was reviewed and members were asked to email Sue in the next few days with their recommendations.
