- Update on CAC discussion about security guard--Tracy
- Goals and planning for next 6 months
- Library "Welcome" banners requests
Minutes (Regrets: Martin, Frances):
1. David presented findings from the ARL New Model Publications study. Vanderbilt was one of 15 libraries to participate in the study, which took place from April to June of this year. Librarians from Central, Divinity, Music, Peabody and Science & Engineering interviewed faculty to determine which publications and information-sharing methods they found useful and which they did not. This data was then input into an online survey database arranged by subject category. Results ultimately identified 350 resources, and showed the need to add 21 e-resources. David will contact committee members when the report is complete; the database should be available to access in the fall.
2. Tracy reported that CAC members are currently assessing the proposal for the Security Guard Trial Project. The discussion is ongoing at this time. Tracy will report back to the Library Council in the near future with further results of their discussion.
3. Flo gave an update on the status of the 07-08 Annual Reports and notified the committee that she and Robyn would combine the information from these into one overall report. In consideration of goals and planning for the next 6 to 7 months, Flo asked directors to bring suggestions for system-wide library goals to the next Library Council meeting. These topics will be reviewed at the next meeting, and some issues will be considered for discussion at the August 14 Coffee and Donuts session.
4. Announcements:
- Peg has reported that the Annex is targeted to be full by mid-fall as originally thought. She will send a reminder in a couple of months with information about how many carts each of the libraries can send to her for storage.
- Beth Boord announced that the Development Office has provided her additional part-time staff to assist with development. This will allow her to focus more attention on major gifts and donors for the Library in working toward the Library’s goals and strategic plan.
