DLSC meeting minutes 10/7/2008

Primo Relevance Ranking:

Jody reported the results to date of his research on the relevance ranking algorithm and distributed a summary document. Jody believes he has narrowed down to problem with the Vietnam War search but does not have an absolute solution yet. Possible solutions discussed were:

-Change the algorithm

-Remove the TvNews mapping

-Map the dc:title in TVN to subject and not title

-Add a document booster

-Add mapping to additional titel

The group decided to try mapping dc:title to subject.

Jody reminded the group that this is an ongoing process.

DiscoverLibrary communication:

Jody and Sue have been discussing ways to communicate with Library staff about issues related to DiscoverLibrary. They have setup a blog that will have access limited to library staff and will be sharing information about the blog shortly. The initial hope was to have this authenticate using vunetids but that has been problematic.
