Discussion of next stages of Primo project.
- Development of a permanent name for the service.
- Development of integration with our other services.
Notes:
- The consensus was that, in the near term, we should focus our efforts on developing ways to present the search function in our existing web site(s), rather than spend effort developing the out of the box top level user interface. We discussed ways of doing that could be accomplished in the near term. This would be an initial effort that would require ongoing development and refinement and eventually exposing additional aspects of the service as they become relevant.
We also decided we would need to find ways of incorporating our style-sheet for the second level pages of the service. And we determined that it would be necessary to have two levels of help: one "executive summary" and the other a more detailed description of what is being searched through this service.
Finally, we agreed that it would be best to use existing groups to carry out this work, rather than commission a new team. We recommend that the existing Web Management group carry these tasks forward, with input from stakeholder groups as needed.
- The task of developing a permanent name has been given to the Communications Committee. Jody, Sue, and Suellen will advise this committee that the focus should be on the search/discovery functionality (the "search box"), not on developing a name of a new web site. Since we anticipate that this service will appear in multiple contexts (web sites, portals, etc.) it is important that the name and "logo" if one is developed is descriptive and distinctive.
