Agenda:
- Proposed Heard web site operational management group.
- Update on LDAP authentication project for Primo and Unicorn.
- Primo beta test planning.
Notes:
- The group approved the formation of the Heard web site operational management group with minor revisions to the charge. The group will be led by Suellen Stringer-Hye. Jody will inform S&PC before announcements are made to all library staff.
- Bill informed the committee that we have a working proof of concept for LDAP authentication with Unicorn. The next steps in the process are to test the service against VU's ldap service. When implemented in production, this service will allow users to log into Unicorn (and eventually Primo) using their VUnetID, if they have one. We will continue working on an authentication solution for non-VUnetIDs that will not require use of the SSN. We hope to have this service in place for Unicorn as early as the beginning of the Spring semester. Flo will talk with RSC about this. Jody and Flo will talk with S&PC to determine the best ways to communicate about this to library staff and users.
- The committee discussed the proposed beta test plan for Primo. While more planning needs to be done, the group agreed that the test plan should probably be divided into 3 phases.
- Phase 1--begins early January: initial configuration and testing of normalization and delivery rules.
- Phase 2--beginning probably in February: internal testing by designated groups of library staff.
- Phase 3--beginning probably in late February/early March: public beta testing, functionality and usability testing, focus group studies, aggressive solicitation of feedback.
The committee also agreed that a beta test coordinator and team will be needed to insure that testing is systematic and thorough.
The committee began discussion of enhancement metadata sources for Primo, but ran out of time.
The committee will continue discussion and refine these plans in the coming weeks.
