Notes for July 18th meeting of DLSC:
- Demonstration of TVNA's use of Google Analytics--Marshall Breeding.
Marshall demonstrated some of the features of Google Analytics. The DLSC had previously endorsed the idea of trying to get all library web pages configured to use this service. Marshall will follow up with those directors who have not already been notified.
Jody announced that a small group (Rick Stringer-Hye, Bill Hook, Flo Wilson, and Jody Combs) have been reviewing web analytics software that could be hosted locally. They will bring their observations back to the DLSC at a later time for discussion.
- Announcement of Communication Committee plan for project to develop a library web style guide, similar to Vanderbilt's style guide.
Jody announced that the Communication Committee had discussed with the Strategy and Planning Council the need to develop a library "style guide" and associated tools and training for web design. In general, there seems to be broad consensus that this would be useful. Jody pointed out that this work might be leveraged as we move toward developing a content management approach for the library's next generation web presence.
- Report from Primo Normalization Team -- Mary Charles Lasater.
Mary Charles reported that the Primo Normalization Team is making progress. Their goal is to have a draft mapping plan available by end of July.
- Review of proposed charge for Primo "GetIt!" (Availability/Delivery) project--Flo Wilson.
Time did not allow us to review this charge. We will take this up at our next meeting.
- Review of Communication Plan for Primo Project (if time allows).
We did not have time to discuss the plan, so it will be on next week's agenda.
