Notes:
In Bill Hook’s absence, Jody informed members of the DLSC that they could help test the first step (basic authentication) of the LDAP, using VUnetID and password, authentication project for Primo and Unicorn. He informed the group that more work needed to be done before it could be released for wider testing, but that this was a critical first milestone.
Jody updated the group of various activities related to preparation for installing the beta versions of Primo. These include updated hardware recommendations, production of new extracts, and access to back office tools. The committee also discussed a plan to manage the initial implementation of normalization and availability rules.
The committee continued work on developing the beta test plan. Jody will develop a staff news service release to inform library staff about the plan.
We discussed options for deciding what we will call Primo, both during the beta test process and during subsequent phases of the project. Flo agreed to investigate the possibility of making this a class project for an OGSM course. We also agreed that we need to consult with the Communication Committee. We also thought it would be useful to ask end-users what it should be called as part of the public portion of the beta testing process.
Jody updated the committee on a changes needed to the Heard web site management group charge. The committee agreed to the changes and the amended charge will be announced shortly. Jody also updated the committee on the status of the proposal for a joint development project with the Commons. Various stakeholders and potential partners in this project will meet in the near future.
