Talking Points Project Team

Reports to:

The Communications Committee. The team communicates key action items and key agenda items to the Library’s Staff Newsletter well in advance of any final decision making or implementation. A final report is made to the Communications Committee and is forwarded on to the Strategy & Planning Council, who will vote on recommendations.

Membership:

VU libraries staff
Senior Public Affairs Officer in charge of the Library, Public Affairs

Charge:

  1. Review existing Strategic Planning literature, committee charges, and committee minutes to determine critical points to emphasize in the coming year.
  2. Review literature on the subject.
  3. Identify, gather input, and communicate with stakeholders on the project.
  4. Create between 4 and 8 talking points to emphasize in FY 2006/2007 library publicity and marketing.
  5. Write procedures for the use of the talking points and post them to the Staffweb.
  6. Publicize the talking points throughout the library system and create an online resource for staff to access the points. Work with Public Affairs to determine the best method for distributing the information.
  7. Develop methodologies for assessment of talking points.

Time Frame:

The Project Team will complete its assignment by the end of the current fiscal year (June 30, 2006), to allow for time to present the points in 2006/2007 materials.
