Communications Committee Minutes, September 04, 2008

Committee Roster:
Ava announced her plans to resign from the committee effective 09/04/08. Michelle Nielsen-Ott (a new member) has been added to the committee. Welcome Michelle!
Ticker: Suellen proposed to remove the library news online announcement and overdue policy announcement from the ticker. Services to be added and marketed by ticker in September 2008: Rare books, TV News, and Online Book.
Update on Drupal Staff web Project: Suellen introduced Drupal to the group. Drupal is a very flexible tool that allows you to help facilitate effective management of web content. The Web Management Group is working on a project to both update the Staffweb and evaluate the usefulness of Drupal for other web content. Suellen mentioned several things that the Web Management Group is thinking about that may have an impact on the Communications Committee and asked that the CC help think about communications related features that might help improve the Staffweb. She also mentioned that a survey is underway and to encourage staff to please fill it out.
Update on Marketing Plan Subcommittee: Sue Erickson shared two “drafts” of the small size posters that Henry redesigned to be displayed on students’ bulletin boards. The group decided on small posters and will have 15 of each of the 6 different posters to be made for distribution around campus. Robyn stated that the book bags are underway, and buttons have been ordered. The marketing plan subcommittee will meet one time in September 2008. Planning for Communications Surrounding Connie’s Arrival and Integration into the Library: Suellen asked the group to be thinking about a proposal to be sent to Connie of the kinds of things the CC might want to do in order to start introducing her to the library. It should be innovative, with interesting ideas that will get people involved.
