1) Welcome to new member Michelle Nielsen Ott!
2) Family Weekend There will be a tent outside of GLB on Friday, October 3, 2 – 3 pm. Refreshments will be served and staff will be on hand to answer any questions from family members. There will be welcome sign (Robyn will order), an FAQ, and a powerpoint presentation based on the FAQ. The committee was asked to create the FAQ and powerpoint, which will touch on the following areas: facilities, security, hours, tutoring, help from librarians, online access.
3) Modernist Studies Association The Modernist Studies Association will hold its 10 th annual conference in Nashville, with conference organizers drawn from Vanderbilt faculty, and the theme of the conference is Modernism and Global Media. The Vanderbilt organizers have asked the library to create a flyer to be given to conference attendees in regards to library resources, with special consideration given to the creation of the archival site, “Who Speaks for the Negro?”. The communications committee will create such a flyer for the conference attendees.
4) Connie’s arrival Ann Marie Deer Owens (in Public Affairs) will handle the external communication regarding the new Dean. She (Ann Marie) will join the committee during the next meeting in order to review ideas. The committee may be involved in internal communication, pending approval.
