Minutes Communication Meeting

May 7, 2009

Dean Connie Vinita Dowell joined us to tell us about the future of communications.

1. Acorn Chronicle

     a.	The Acorn Chronicle will be changing focus to be Donor concentrated

     b.	The Chronicle is development funded so it is going to change center in on development 

2. Foci of communications

     a.	Three foci of communications: internally , campus and external

          i.	Connie commended us for our good job of internal communication and urges us to continue.

          ii.	Connie would like us to think about how to address the other groups including: faculty, students and donors.

          iii.	Would like to raise the profile of the library and our staff in the profession

          iv.	Need to rally support for the library

          v.	Need to put together an attractive one-pager of information about the library for Connie to hand out when she travels, include statistics etc.

          vi.	Possible outsourcing

               1.	We will be applying for an Owen MBA student to do an internship with the Communications Committee.  A sub-group will meet Friday (Tomorrow) to put together a proposal. 

3. InnerVU ad

     a.	Potential marketing spot.  We can advertise in student planner.  Marketing sub-committee will meet Tuesday to discuss this and the guide to libraries.
