Communications Committee Minutes

May 2, 2006

Attending: George Anglin, Henry Shipman, Angel (Bruner) Craddock, Celia Walker, Flo Wilson, Suellen Stringer-Hye, Paula Covington.

Agenda:

1. Web Ticker: Several new items will be added to the news ticker on the Heard Home Page: an article about the Divinity move, and 24 hr study hours for the Peabody and Science libraries. The Wikipedia article will be removed to allow more room for the new items.

2. Communications Vehicles Survey: The Communications Vehicles Survey data is presented in Excel format on the Communications Committee Wiki. Committee members are compiling their thoughts on interpreting the data and we will discuss these and have our report at the next meeting.

3. Faculty News Feed: Potential members of the Faculty RSS feed project team were discussed and recommended. At our next meeting we will discuss and form the charge for this committee.

4. Guide to Libraries: Paula provided a draft of suggested revisions for the Guide to Libraries, based on suggestions made at a Central reference meeting. The guide is currently intended for visitors, new library patrons and staff, and incoming freshmen, and is distributed through various libraries in the system. As our work to brand the library is yet to be developed and will have a great impact on any library guides and other information vehicles, this year's revisions will not be extensive. Some updates on the cover and map design as well as text editing may be done. Celia will talk with Creative Services about our options.
