Communication Committee Minutes March 5, 2009
Present: Suellen Stringer-Hye, Paula Covington, Robyn Harris, Sara Byrd, Celia Walker, Ann Marie Deer Owens, Michelle Nielsen Ott, Sue Erickson
Emma Mailer Follow-up
Emma Mailer was sent out on Tuesday March 3 at 1 am
794 emails were sent out and only 25 bounced back as undeliverable
Statistics: 43.2% of recipients opened the email, but that does not count all the different way a person may have viewed it such as through a pane. Emma suggests 30% as a good success rate.
Robyn is going to look at the undeliverable emails and see if she can find updated email addresses or if she will need to send out fliers in the mail.
Giving Button
The giving button is now live on the main library web page. Information about this button went out in staff news earlier this week.
Beth Board and the Development office did the planning around putting this button on the page
The placement of the button is an issue, it is placed the only place it would fit and it will have a better place once the web page is redesigned
Beth also suggested that we wait on making giving web pages until Connie has time to review this endeavor
LibQUAL+ Update
Tracy has volunteered student workers from the Science library to pass out and post filers around campus.
Talking points have been handed out to the library council
My VU will advertise the survey on Monday Mar 9
The survey will be featured on the university calendar during the survey period
Henry Shipman made a banner for the main library home web page to advertise the survey. We will need to ask the library council for a stamp of approval because this is setting precedence in changing the web page.
There will be a follow-up with stakeholders around campus. Celia asked if the communication committee would also like anything else to be promoted in these meeting. We decided to not promote anything other than LibQUAL+.
The website for LibQUAL+ is up, but it is not linked to any other pages yet.
Ticker
March is womens studies Month. Amy Stewart-Mailhiot is working on getting together a list of databases
Managements lib guide is live
Archiving Videos
Videos will be retired from staff web this week. We need to decide where to archive them
Suellen will talk to Ronee Francis about archiving the videos in DiscoverArchive
We will keep a link on staff web to the video for a while but that link will disappear in the future
Celia suggested that we assess the staff about what they think about the videos, we decided to figure out how to archive them and then worry about a survey.
Whats Next?
Need to write annual report of the committee
Not sure what else our future holds
