March 21, 2006 Agenda

1. Web Ticker (all)
We added a ticker item on the new exhibit organized by the French graduate students. We also thought it would be helpful to add information about the Career Center, for soon-to-be graduates who might be job hunting. Celia will determine who worked on that project and ask them to write a statement for us to use to link to the resource.
2. Lib_QUAL+ Publicity Report (Suellen, Celia)
We’ve added a graphic icon to the Heard homepage and several of the libraries have added links to their homepages. The first email announcement was sent to faculty and students on Monday and by Tuesday there were 800 responses. Janice posted the notice in Inner_Vu, running for two weeks, and ran an ad in the Hustler. It was also announced in the news feed and a press release will be sent to the Register. Two follow-up emails will go out in the next two weeks. The report should help us to identify additional talking points for the library.
3. Talking Points Upate (Celia, Flo)
Celia distributed a summary of the rudimentary talking points identified by the subcommittee and audiences that they addressed. We have five points with the broadest audience appeal: (1) friendly, helpful staff; (2) high quality of service; (3) access to Government Documents and Special Collections; (4) lively, integrated environment; and (5) we are working to make it better. Please send any thoughts about additional talking points (such as wireless capabilities) to Celia. We will now flesh out all of the points and identify key elements for next year’s press.
4. Sitemason/News Feed Options (Suellen)
Suellen will chair a subcommittee of any interested communications committee members (and possibly an identified stakeholder) to address the changes suggested by the responses to the communications survey and to create a wish list or ideal software so that we can determine if we want to continue with the existing structure or change to another software program or model. Suellen will book a time on the calendars of all interested parties. The process should only take 2 or 3 meetings to complete.
5. Membership (Celia, Flo)
Two members of our committee have rolled off: Deb Sommers and Jim Webb. We appreciate the service that they have provided to the committee. We will replace those positions in the coming weeks, and committee members were encouraged to submit suggested nominees to Celia.
