Communications Committee Minutes June 05, 2008
Members Present: Sue Erickson, Robyn Harris, Henry Shipman, Suellen Stringer-Hye, Ava Wilson
Web Ticker Items: Robyn removed “Commencement Finds” and added “Change in Overdue Fines Policy” to the ticker.
The following items were suggested to be added: • Poster information • Renewing library materials online • Information on the Leisure Reading collection
Suellen will write a draft about the posters and the marketing plan for committee members to review. Robyn will post an article in the Staffnews to communicate this information to staff.
Recommendation for Annual Committee Reports: Suellen will recommend a consistent format for annual committee reports to the Strategy and Planning Council, using the committee’s own bulleted format as a model. She will also suggest that committees use a bulleted format when posting minutes to the Staffnews.
Marketing Schedule for Next Year: The Marketing Subcommittee will meet to discuss what we are going to market for the incoming freshmen and transfer student’s orientation. To help promote the marketing plan, the members of this group will decide what product to include as “flair” in backpacks incoming students will receive. July 25th is the deadline for this project.
Robyn is revising the 2008/2009 “Guide to Libraries” brochure. Deadline for this project is July 2008.
Some of the items the committee plans to advertise in August 2008 include:
• Library and Library Services • ILL • Specialists and Reference Assistance • Welcome to students and parents
We will advertise these using: • ILL Brochure – Plan to revise by August 1st • Document Delivery Bookmarks – Find out why these items are not being used – take to CAC • Library Folders • Trifold Library poster • Banners • Pens • Pins • Web ticker • Library News online
• Discover Library rollout in August 2008 – we will need to review the new version when it is released in July and decide how to market.
By our next meeting, Suellen suggested that members should communicate via email to revise the rest of the 2008-2009 marketing timeline of items that need to be removed or added to the list. In the meantime, the marketing sub-committee will also meet to create marketing plan for the Fall.
