Communications Committee Minutes

Attending: Celia Walker, Ava Wilson, Angel Craddock, Flo Wilson, Suellen Stringer-Hye, George Anglin.

Agenda
1. Web ticker: The ticker will be updated with the link to the Divinity Renovation page, an item about the Management Library renovation, and an article about the Travel and Leisure Reading sections in the GLB. The job hunting information will stay up and the 18th Century collections item will be taken off for now.

2. Faculty News Project Team update: The following staff members have agreed to serve on the project team to create a Faculty News feed: Kitty Porter (leader), George Anglin, Yvonne Boyer, Becky Atack, Meredith Hammons, and Celia Walker.

3. Primo Publicity Campaign: A tiered publicity release will inform the library staff about the impending Primo interface. There will be a newsfeed announcement, perhaps an open house, a FAQ web page and an OAK course with information. All staff will be able to access this course which will not only be informative, but will also give them a way to learn more about the use of OAK.

4. Test Bed Site Project: Testpilot, a project of the Digital Library Steering Committee, is currently under development. They have a web page previewing technology and web ideas that might be of use to the library and are soliciting comments from the library staff. More information about how to reach this page will be forthcoming.

5. Home Page Refresher: Suellen gave the committee a preview of the updated Heard Home Page that is to be unveiled this fall. There will be a Brown Bag given soon so the rest of the staff can see what is planned.

6. Staffweb resource for communications policy, style sheets, colors, etc.: We discussed the need for a new or updated communications policy statement for the Heard pages (system-wide pages only). Celia will suggest the topic for the next Strategy & Planning Council meeting to determine if we are the right committee to address the look and feel of the web pages.

The new Guide to Libraries is being published and should be ready for distribution in mid-July.

Flo Wilson will be leaving our committee due to her new duties at the Management Library. We will miss her.
