Communication Committee plans for Fall semester
Minutes August 7, 2008 (Regrets: Ava, Paula)
1. Henry announced his plans to resign from the committee.
2. The group reviewed the poster distribution list to see which areas on campus needed to be contacted; only a few of the original posters remain. For the next printing, we will look into printing smaller posters (approximately 11” x 14”) on a different quality paper which can be hung on bulletin boards and replaced periodically. Henry will work on the redesign for the smaller poster; Tracy will send a student employee to post these around campus in the fall. We have 2 new images to use for posters from the Spring issue of the Acorn Chronicle: State Historian Walter Durham and Professor Robert Barsky, with possible additional images available in the future after the fall issue is released.
3. We reviewed the Schedule of Publicity for marketing products for the 08-09 year. We are up to date through the end of August and will revisit the schedule in September. The Guide to Libraries, folders, pens and buttons have been ordered and delivered. The Marketing Subcommittee will decide on the image for the next book bag and Robyn will proceed with that order. Robyn will check with Creative Services for a pdf image of the campus map that is printed on the Guides.
4. Suellen discussed plans underway for pilot projects putting the Staffweb and the S&E Staffweb into Drupal. In preparation for this, the committee should begin to look for more effective ways to communicate system-wide news and information internally.
5. The committee discussed ideas for helping to make the arrival of our new dean a smooth transition, both for Connie and for staff, by periodically posting updates and other information in the Staffnews and Library News Online. Suellen will discuss this further with Flo and report back to the committee.
