Notes:
Present: Becky Atack & Kitty Porter
1. Survey results: Most requested a subscribable email newsletter, preferable monthly. Some interest in notification of new items in their areas.
2. Timeline: postponed for more representation
3. George has already set up Sitemason. He will check into a simple email form for subscription that will automatically add people to mailing list. We agreed it should be as simple and straightforward as possible. People should be able to subscribe to the whole newsletter as well as to RSS feeds of special sections like new books in given call numbers, new electronic resources, new services for faculty etc.
4. News should be easy to find. On new website add More news link from current ticker to page with extended items. Subscribe button should be on front page as well as on News page. Good to link what is RSS feed page to News page – Princeton has a good one. Three categories of info in news: Library events – could include brown bags and web casts when topics of general interest; New materials – both list of new books in given subjects and information on new electronic resources with name of librarian with special knowledge; New and underused services.
5. Frequency: monthly
6. Editor: Celia Walker has volunteered to be editor and Pat Johnson has agreed to be back-up
7. Remaining items on charge:
a. How to generate and maintain mailing list: See #3
b. Marketing plan: will need to consult in library and on campus who specialize in publicity
c. Assessment tool: suggestions:
i. Hits on newsletter
ii. # of subscribers to newsletter and feeds
iii. Put feedback button with form on news page and elsewhere
