October 30, 2007
1. Sage E-journal proposal – decision? Science - interested only in electronic Central – the cost is too much for what is gained; Medical – interested only in electronic Peabody – cost is too great Management – cost is too great
Decision – Vanderbilt is not interested at this time. The interest in the offer is driven by U.T. They want to negotiate a better package. If they succeed, Bill will bring it back to the group for reconsideration.
2. Springer E-book proposal – decision? No interest among the Humanities. It is possible to take out a slice for a single discipline – Carlin can still explore this possibility for Science.
3. Scholarly Stats – conversation Roberta set up a subscription and an account as a trial for the year. Kitty is charged with exploring the product. A separate meeting will be scheduled in the E-classroom for Kitty to demonstrate how it works. Everyone on the committee will be invited to attend if wish. Mary Beth noted that it was a plus that it could track databases as well as e-journals.
4. Harrassowitz offer about e-journals add-on Harrassowitz offered us the opportunity to set a threshold for adding online access to a print subscription. The different libraries preferred to decided title by title
5. PsycINFO Silver Platter is the current platform for PsycINFO. Mary Beth proposed that we contact several other vendors (Ebsco, ProQuest/CSA) to set up simultaneous trails to compare platforms. A couple of the other libraries were interested in the deals on databases that might come from switching to Ebsco. Mary Beth is going to check into setting up a spring (February) trial
6. Atlanta Constitution Law is interested in getting the digitized version of the newspaper. The disadvantage is that the backfiles only go to 1929. There was interest among other libraries. Bill is going to propose a funding model to distribute the cost with Law assuming a significant piece.
