1. The committee continued to review the status of our project to create new funds for electronic resources and to assign each eresource order to one of the new fund codes. Members made progress reports, and we reached agreement about situations that lacked clarity:
- Determining fund assignment for databases that include both full text ejournals and an indexing feature is based on our intent when we purchased the database and on how we promote the database to users. If we acquired and promote the database primarily as an index, it is assigned an indexes/ejournals fund code (ProQuest, for instance). If we acquired and promote the databases as a collection of ejournals, it is assigned an ejournals fund code (ScienceDirect, for instance).
- Where the cost of a database is shared by multiple libraries, we will attempt to be consistent in fund assignment. After each library has assigned a fund code, Order Services will inform all the participating libraries when there are variations in fund assignment so that we can make adjustments.
- Periodical orders that include both print and electronic formats are assigned an ejournals fund code. But this is the case only when we acquire both formats on a single order. If we receive print on one order and electronic on another, such as a collection of ejournals, only the electronic order is assigned an electronic fund code.
2. The committee reviewed subscriptions lists from our major periodicals vendors as preparation for assigning funds to periodical orders and allocating the new ejournal funds.
3. Our one-year free subscription to Book Index with Reviews ends on June 30. None of the libraries expressed an interest in paying for a subscription to this database.
