1) Review of the CAC security weblog.

How do I login?

Login at http://weblog.library.vanderbilt.edu/circblog/. Your user ID is in lower case. Upon login, you will be at the public view of the blog, where you may read all posts. Administrative functions, such as creating a new blog post, or changing or viewing the parameters of your account, must be done in the administrative module.

How do I read a new post?

All new posts will be sent to your email. New posts will only be sent to active members of the blog. You may also log in to the blog to read new posts, or you may receive new posts by RSS feed.

How do I change my password?

1. Log in to the blog.

2. Click on the link to "Site Admin" (lower, right-hand corner).

3. Once in the administrative module, click on the link to "Profile" (top, right-hand corner).

4. You may enter and re-enter a new password. The administrator does NOT see your password. However, the administrator may re-set the password.

How do I create a new blog post?

1. Login in to the blog.

2. Click on the link to "Admin" (lower, right-hand corner).

3. Click on the link to "Write" (top, left-hand corner).

4. Write your blog post in the text box and give it a title. You may categorize the post if you wish to do so.

5. "Save" and "Publish" the post. (buttons are located to the right of the Post box). Clicking on Publish will automatically distribute the blog post to the members of the blog.

How do I subscribe to the RSS feed?

1. Log in to the blog.

2. Click on the link to "Site Admin" (lower, right-hand corner).

3. Once in the administrative module, click on the link to "Profile" (top, right-hand corner).

4. At the very bottom of the screen is "Your Feed URL." Paste this URL into your RSS reader. Each blog member has a unique "Feed Key" in order to maintain the privacy of the blog posts.

5. If you would like to use Outlook for your RSS reader, use the following path to paste in your unique feed key. Tools--> Account Settings--> RSS Feeds tab--> click on "New" and paste in your unique URL. You must use Outlook from Office 2007. Once you have added an RSS feed, you will see a folder in the left pane labeled "RSS Feeds."

Who may be a member of the blog?

CAC members, Directors, and other appropriate members of the library community. Tracy Primich is the administrator of the blog and creates accounts for new members. Because the purpose of the blog is to name names and provide specifics of incidents, the information should be treated with care and discretion.

2)Matrix of overdue notices

Tao created a matrix of notices. Question: Should the overdue notices for reserve materials be changed to include language about renewals? It is not understood if reserve materials can be renewed, or can be renewed online. Until this is understood, the language should remain the same.

3) faculty records

At present, there are 5666 records in Workflows with a profile of FACULTY. LITS receives a feed from HR regarding current faculty, and that feed contains (latest count) 2378 faculty records. Of those 2378 faculty records, 1655 of those faculty have records in Workflow. Clearly, there is a discrepancy between the total number of faculty records in Worklows (5666) and the records from HR that correspond to faculty records in Workflows (1655). Some faculty records in Workflows belong to faculty no longer at Vanderbilt. Some faculty records in Workflows belong to faculty not included in the HR feed (e.g. adjunct faculty). It is difficult to ascertain which of the 5666 faculty records in Workflow are current and which are not. Some records can be purged: FACULTY profile, no activity after 1996, and an old-style six-digit user ID. After those records are purged, Tao will review the number of records again.
