Minutes
1) The Central Library will continue charging fines, and all other libraries will discontinue fines per earlier discussions. Julier Loder is at work changing the circulation tables, and within the next month, the tables will be ready on Acorn Test. The new circ tables are scheduled to roll to production July 1, 2008.
2) There are a variety of Vanderbilt staff who have a need for faculty borrowing privileges and faculty delivery. In order to serve this group, a new Acorn profile will be created that has faculty borrowing privileges associated with it. The name of the profile will be Staff-Fac. An Inform has been submitted (2/5/08) so that a new profile will be created and a faculty delivery button will be associated with the new profile. In addition, a form was created (and was placed on the CAC web site) so that staff may apply for a change in borrowing privileges. If a Vanderbilt staff member requests a change in status, the staff member will be given this form, and the staff member will seek concurrence at his or her home department. The home department makes the determination in regards to the appropriateness of the request, not the library. When the staff member returns the form to a circulation desk, the profile will be changed from Staff to Staff-Fac. ILL will be notified so that the staff member's Illiad record may be changed in order for the staff member to be eligible for faculty delivery.
Addendum to Item #2, made 6/19/08 A Staff-Fac profile was not created. Instead, when a staff member applies for faculty borrowing status, the profile will be changed to "Faculty" with the following categories:
Profile= faculty
Category 1=school
Category 2=FACULTY
Category 3 = INSTRUCTOR
3) There was hesitation about creating a Rush Request button for the location of INTRANSIT. INTRANSIT relates to a variety of circumstances, and it is not clear about what kind of process to put into place in order to find an INTRANSIT item or to whom rush requests might be appropriately directed. This question requires some additional investigation in order to respond more thoroughly. However, there was consensus that all libraries should review (now, and regularly thereafter) the Pending INTRANSIT lists. It is likely that there are old items that need to be searched, and potentially withdrawn. In order to see a list of Pending INTRANSIT items, use the following Wizard in Acorn: Circulation Module-->In-Transit Items (last section in the left column)-->Pending Transits. Click on the "Pending Transits" Wizard and you will see a report for your library.
4) Faculty delivery to surrogate card holders has been activated. A complete description of the service may be found at http://www.library.vanderbilt.edu/ill/FacultySurrogateDelivery.html.
5) The policy for issuing access cards was reviewed. The policy and process will remain ghe same, with the addition that all applicants for an access card will be asked to verify identity with a picture ID card. This change was noted on the CAC web site.
